What makes an effective rewards program? [VIDEO]

Many companies in the U.S. have some form of an employee rewards program in place.

Many companies in the U.S. have some form of an employee rewards program in place.

In fact, employee recognition is a $46 billion industry in the U.S. But despite that, less than half of workers feel appreciated.

A study by Bersin and Associates found that organizations that use their recognition programs effectively consistently outperform those that don't.

In order for rewards programs to be effective, they must be sincere, timely and personal.
A points-based rewards program that lets workers choice their awards is a great way for companies to personalize the experience because not everyone likes to be recognized in the same way.

Workers can then redeem those points to pick a prize such as tickets to a sporting event or a gift certificate to their favorite store.

Companies can even further personalize the program to include things like a premium parking spot for a month or paid time off based on what kind of reward they think would make their workers feel the most appreciated.
