Appreciation equals motivation [VIDEO]

Companies across the globe are constantly looking at ways to motivate employees.

Companies across the globe are constantly looking at ways to motivate employees.

But a new survey out by Glassdoor reveals that it basically boils down to one simple thing that organizations can do to motivate, engage and retain workers – show appreciation.

According to the recently released Employee Appreciation Survey, 53 percent of employees said they would remain at a company longer if they felt more appreciated. And a whopping 81 percent said they are motivated to work harder when their boss shows appreciation for all their hard work.

Perhaps one of the best ways organizations can reward employees and show their appreciation is to set up a rewards program based on points. This type of system can be used for both remote and onsite workers across the world, who can then redeem their points for a gift of their choice, such as a gift certificate or tickets to an event.

Glassdoor said the survey is a good reminder that companies don't have to spend a fortune on fancy perks or have a big budget in order to motivate workers.
