Allow workers to honor each other’s accomplishments

Experts are touting employee reward and recognition programs for their ability to both honor staff members' work as well as spur greater business success.

Experts are touting employee reward and recognition programs for their ability to both honor staff members' work as well as spur greater business success.

The idea is fairly straightforward – by communicating to workers that their efforts are valued and registered, they will feel more connected and engaged with their employers and thus be more productive.

However, senior personnel do not need to be the only individuals who recognize ing employees for their hard work. Manufacturing technology company Barry-Wehmiller utilizes several award programs that allow co-workers to acknowledge one another, The Des Moines Register reports.

"Everybody is nominating people," Robert Chapman, CEO of Barry-Wehmiller, told the newspaper. "In a plant of 450 people, we had 120 to 180 nominees. Think of this: People took the time to talk about the goodness in other people."

Supporting a reward and recognition program driven by employees can create a greater sense of teamwork and goodwill in companies.
