One way businesses are showing their staff members they should stick with them is by paying attention to their workers' dreams and ambitions. This sense of caring can manifest itself in many ways.

Fast Company suggests senior personnel sit down to talk with employees to understand what they really want to do. Are they interested in management or climbing the corporate ladder? Or are they simply working to make end's meet for their families?

"Far too often, we think of our employees as … [property, plant and equipment], looking to drive productivity as if people were automatons," Whitney Johnson, an expert in motivation, told the news source. "Yet the real returns are to be had when we remember that every employee …carries a secret dream …and we as employers invest in and harness the power of those dreams."

Flexible schedules and wellness programs are just a few of the ways companies can appeal to employees as well as their personal ambitions.
