Tangible rewards allow workers to remember they’re the best

When devising a successful employee reward program, it's important for firms to distinguish between what motivates owners and staff members.

At first glance, it may seem that there isn't much of a difference. However, a recent article in Modern Tire Dealer identifies where conflicts occur. For business owners, motivation can come from a variety of sources, including increasing sales and profits as well as overall growth.

Employees, however, need to be rewarded in different ways, including recognition, advancement and competition. One technique the news source suggests is giving staff members a chance to win prizes, including trophies, certificates, trips and nice gadgets.

"Those tangible rewards … state they were for a specific time period the best at something," Doug Trenary explains for Modern Tire Dealer. "I have seen incredible efforts to sell more tires and service when a trophy is on the line – and the bragging rights that go with it."

Of course, this isn't the only option for firms looking to implement employee incentive initiatives. They can offer educational opportunities as well as tickets to events.
