Getting workers to stop smoking

Smoking is the leading cause of most preventable health issues, which is why health insurance companies provide discounts for non-smokers. Getting employees to stop smoking is one of the more effective ways companies can lower their insurance costs.

Management Today notes that employee incentive programs can help organizations create cultures of good health. These can consist of a number of initiatives designed to boost the overall well-being of staff. In addition to encouraging workers to quit smoking, companies can reward physical activity, encourage mental counseling and promote healthy diets. Firms that provide support for those struggling to kick bad habits can significantly boost their employees' success rates.
