Many studies have looked at how wellness programs are being implemented by big firms as part of an overall employee incentives initiative. However, many smaller companies are also benefiting from promoting employee health through such programs.
A new survey from the National Small Business Association and Humana, entitled "Workplace Wellness Programs in Small Business," found 75 percent of small businesses that offer employees the chance to improve their health and well-being register benefits to their bottom-line.
Furthermore, 93 percent of respondents believe their staff members' health is important to the financial success of their companies. With numbers this high, what's keeping employee health programs from being universal?
The research found that more than half of owners lack the confidence to implement such initiatives, with many citing insufficient information to creating programs as a major barrier.
Fortunately, there are many professional services that companies can turn to for help in instituting an employee incentive program.
